Well, on the Sparc, it's wmaker 0.61.1-1, while on the Intel it's 0.61.1-4

The available file says that the same versions are available as are
provided.

Even when I mark wmaker as being on hold using dselect, once I run
'apt-get dist-upgrade' and abort when told wmaker is to be removed, the
package is now marked 'installed remove remove'.

There was a fair amount of dependency resolution involved in marking the
package on Hold. I suspect this is what makes apt-get wish to remove it...
