Hm, I would say this bug can be easily fixed, by changing the
Provides-Line of sysklogd. :( Joey, would you please take care of
sysklog to change the Provides line from syslogd to system-log-daemon
and linux-kernel-log-daemon, the virtual package names as they can be
found in /usr/share/doc/debian-policy/virtual-package-names-list.text.gz

I send in a patch to fix this and move the logfile-rotation from a daily
cron.job to logrotate.

According to the changelog, this bug should be fixed in the new
packages. Could someone please verify this?

There's a bug report open against ftp.debian.org to fully remove this
package from our archive, so we (the qa-team) won't fix this one.

I talked with the maintainer as we are working for the same company and
he explained to me that he tracked this bug down to be a bug in run, for
which he needs help to fix the race-condition in run. If no one can help
with fixing this bug in run, he will have to pull this package out of
our archive.

I would appreciate if someone who has a hp-printer would take care of
this bug as it looks to be related to the hp-printer-stuff in the
package.

This bug is very hard to track down and as I was participating in
tracking it down, I would appreciate if someone who knows libdb2 and/or
libc6 into this bug report. Thanks.

Well, this is a pam-related bug and I asked Luca Filipozzi for help, but
he answered not till today. If someone is here, who has a good knowledge
about programming with pam, I would appreciate if he would contact me,
as I'm not very familar with the pam stuff and can't completly track
this bug down to get it soon fixed. Thanks.

Well, this will be a bit difficult to resolve as it effects all
logging-daemons and they all need to be changed to use the current
virtual package name standard names.

Well, this one should be fairly easy to solve.

I will try to contact Hanno in IRC. I just contacted him and he will fix
this package.

Torsten, are you around? If yes, will you take care of it? If not, I
mail him directly.

See above.

Well, there's a patch for this already in the BTS.

Wichert just orphaned the package in IRC when I talked with him about
this bug. One of the debian-qa guys will fix this bug then, as I can't
get a fixed package to build on my system.

There's also an open bug report against ftp.debian.org for the removal
of this package from the archives.

Same as ifhp and ilu-guiledev.

The package has been taken over Gergely Risko, if I'm not mistaken.

I talk with the maintainer to include the patch.

As stated for the package console-log this bug is not easy to fix and
the maintainer woudl appreciate any help in tracking it down and getting
it fixed.

I think that Joey will soon try to get those two bugs fixed. :)

There's a partly fix for this already in ssh according to the bts, but
I'm not sure if this satisfies closing this report.

> 71132 ssh: sshd corrupts utmp and cannot log in when run from inetd

Could also be an bug in the ident-daemon that the submitter uses, as I
just wrote to the BTS.

> 76788 Servers can force client to do X/agent forwarding

Security-related bug which should be fixed as soon as possible

Ryan, is the fix for this on sourceforge, so that you can release a
fixed package now?

> 75855 stormpkg: Wrong symlink

Fixed in CVS.

Ciao
