They both work as delete-backward-char, may be because of my keybinding :)

If every terminal type on Debian produce ^[[1~ for Home and ^[[4 for End.

Now xterm procudes diffrent key sequence than linux-console and probably you
didn't bindkey.
BTW, I set my .Xresources so that xterm use ^[[1~ for Home and ^[[4 for End.
