Bingo! In addtion to removing it from /etc/pluggerrc, I had to edit
.netscape/plugin-list & remove it from there too. Unfortunately, I could
not just remove .netscape/plugin-list, as it caused a "Bus error" and
Netscape wouldn't start. Editing plugin-list was a bit tedious, as the
list of types is all one big long line. But now it works fine.
