HP-UX has a really nice boot sequence, and doesn't involve any gimmicks
like graphics, either :-) You get a page listing all the startup tasks eg
Starting samba ............................ [ ]
Starting proftpd........................... [ ]
...
The entire list is displayed in advance (one screenful anyway).
Then the blank space changes to [busy] while the service is starting,
and [done] when it's finished starting.
