The size and speed argument is completely and utterly meaningless.  Oooooh, wow,
I can save a few K, and speed up program loading by a whole 0.5ms or so.  That's
definately worth losing the human readability of the file.

What about it?  How could one possibly edit a binary database if one is
logging in remotely and one only has telnet and/or a slow connection?  It's at
least in the realm of possibility with a straight text file.
