kde is not in contrib - to compile it needs to link with non-free code, but is
  distributed under the GPL, therefore no binaries can be distributed.

QT is not opensource - they have talked about making it opensource (whatever
  that means?), but have yet to finalise the licence. it is still non-free.

GNU does not eliminate all the world's problems, only some of them.
