As we are talking about it...

We need a more sophisticated ftp setup anyway. Problems are raising:

a) We can't guarantee that we provide the source for three years currently.
b) We don't have a smart way to have "sub"ports, like i586, which falls back
   to i386 at any place.
c) The Hurd will have binary compatibility with Linux at some stage, so we
   can use such a feature there, too.

Maybe it's time to plan the big reorganizing for the next millenium?
(dpkg 2.0, new source format, arch friendly ftp setup... bug-free
distribution?? Nay.)
