Well, at least make the standard emacs a minimal installation.  I still
don't see why it must be standard, though.  Anyone who knows how to use it
will know enough to install it.

Who ships it as a standard editor?  I think anyone coming to Linux from
commercial Unix will expect to need to install emacs.
