Re: Debian Free Software (FSF) or Open Source? (was Re; non-cd...)

Hi,

I replying directly to Kevin, with a copy to the list, said,
 specifically to Kevin:
 Manoj> I don't know why I am talking to you <grep Kevin's anme in
 Manoj> available file>

	You chose to generalize that:
Steve> So now having a package that you have in your database is a
Steve> requirement for speaking with you?

Well, you generalized it, so I followed suit:
Manoj> Nope; but before you start telling me what Debian should be
Manoj> doing and how it is doing things all wrong; you have to show some
 Manoj> credentials.

Now, you take it to a specific case, and take it upon
 yourself:

Steve> Show me where I have stated Debian is doing anything wrong.
Steve> I'll even forward you all my messages from this thread so you
 Steve> can find it.

Huh? First, you take a specific statement to one individual
and generalize it; when I answer, in general, but still explaining my
action, you mek it specific, but to another individual and in another
context, and you now tell my *I* am confusing things?

So, what clarification are you looking for?

Manoj> We are committed to having Debian be 100 % free software. Any
Manoj> non free software, or even free software that depends on non free
Manoj> software, can never be part of debian. Anything we create in debian
Manoj> is going to have a free licence.

Steve> Which I have not disputed, and, in fact, SUPPORTED in a direct
Steve> reply to you. So why do you keep bringing this up?

*Sigh*. I thought it would show that we really, really are
committed to *free* software, and not to proprietary software. That
these statement convey that we support proprietary software quite
reluctantly. I showed the paragraph above to a disinterested person,
and they said "Really hate commercial software, don't they?"

Steve> The majority is not all and that minority contributes as well. You do
Steve> not speak for all, please stop presuming that you do.

So far, the only one presuming I speak for Debian is you. I
have used we when I meant "all debian developers"; but I was stating
 facts, not speaking for them.

Anyway. This has grown tedious. I shall not post on this
thread, barring extreme provocation; take it up with me offline if
 you must.
