I still install Applixware into /opt/ .

What I'm doing is documented in the debian/rules. OK, its not that
verbose, but it is unambigous enough to make `make' do it. Parts:
- establish new package names and Debian-specific dependencies
  (uses Depends, Recommends, Suggests)
- move doc from /usr/doc/packages/axdocu/ to /usr/doc/applixware/
- install copyright
- move init script to /etc/init.d/
- install rc.d links using update-rc.d
- make /usr/X11R6/bin/applixware editable by moving it to
  /etc/applixware/ and adding a symlink

This cannot be automated, so it has to be created by human.

What is netscape ? ;-)

I don't expect the installer to do things that it cannot do. An
optimistic installer could start guessing and hope it will get it
right (IMHO like debmake ...), but I like more robust solutions.

As I mentioned alien can use human-created patches, but I didn't
understand it enought to get it to work.
