Actually a lot more should be done to syslog to be an adequate thing.
The main problem with it that it is _nearly_ correct so no one bothers to
replace it entirely.
What I am thinking about:
Encryption, reliable transfer, a way to pull the logs from other machines,
more thought out and string oriented record format, etc.
Actually there is a friend of mine who does this as his thesis, we will see
how far he can go till summer.
