please do this :
generate the generic and the full set of both versions, and compare
permissions etc. i tuned the permissions for debian as much as possible.
for example, the default redhat /dev/fd* permissions are 0666 (was
reported on bugtraq some weeks ago).
if you want to do something realy good :
write something to compaire /dev against a list, to find out
a) old/obsolete devices
b) new/missing devices
c) insecure permissions
i never did a real cleanup in /dev, because i did not want to destroy
anything. and this way there may be very many old devices floating
around.
