Well, I must say then that you were not looking at the right
subset of Perl capabilities ;-). Pease look at the module FreezeThaw,
which can handle arbitarily large nested datastructures, and it also
gives random access using the associative array capabilities. (I like
elisp; but I do not see Perl as less capable).
