update: autocompiling working
joost fixed the last known bug, and autocompiling is now running very
fine on my machine. i started this morning compiling all bo 1.3.0
sources, and every third package compiled fine till now.
from my point of view, we can start now. all we need to do is to setup
pc's to do the job. on i386 the machine should have the basic programs
as glibc binary (tar,gzip,dpkg,bash,perl,gawk,make). i did not yet tried
other architectures (no access to a machine), but i don't see why it
shouldn't work.
for auto compiling we don't need to change packages. but we need to fix
lots of bugs (with auto compiling we find such bugs, they are not
produced by auto compiling).
if auto compiling is a goal for debian, we should start now.
a double system of auto compiling and maintainer uploads should start
now, so we can test if everything works fine.
