Oh, yes, just "ar x package.deb" and then tar xzvf data.tar.gz etc/passwd
But I was thinking about the end user...
BTW: data.tar.gz contains `.' inside, so that uncompressing it as root on
/tmp messes up its permissions. Could "dpkg --build" behaviour be changed
to *not* include this directory `.' inside the data.tar.gz file? Which is
the `.' usefuleness?
