Yes, it is true that most other daemons remove and re-install themselves
during installation, but the "rule" is that you disrupt system operations
to a miminum during an installation.
Pppd is different enough in it's operations that I tend to agree with
Daniel, since bringing down a ppp connection has damaging concequenses.
I also agree that an insulting attitude toward users attempting to report
problems is counterproductive at best.
I think that it is inappropriate for the installation to shutdown an
existing ppp connection.
