Take a look at 1.3-{3,4} where this is fixed.

}The shell script "/etc/init.d/sysklogd" refers to the file
}"/var/run/syslogd.pid", which doesn't exist on my system -- a newly
}installed 1.1 beta.  I edited this to refer to "/var/run/syslog.pid"
}instead, which seems to be the correct file.
