Argh. I see what you're talking about. Pardon me while I shudder to
think that anyone would actually compile in the arguments to a setuid
call. Bleagh. getpwnam is *not* hard.

Of *course* it does the lookups. (In fact I think most of the work
happens by virtue of having the daemons simply run under different
uids to start with.) The *names* may be compiled in, but not the
numbers. (Do people really *do* that?)
