One thing I've just thought: can we add a new name for master, say
`new-master.debian.org', that is an A record rather than a CNAME, and
tell people who're having problems to use that ? That will bypass the
staleness from the internic.

Yes, this is exactly what is happening.

You're probably an unofficial secondary for the zone, right ? Then
you never ask the internic and never get the erroneous glue record.
