Thanks for your offer. :) Here is a short update on the current state of
UFO:AI.

I have pushed an initial, unfinished, package to

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/ufoai.git

If you copy all the content under /base in upstream's git repository to
/usr/share/games/ufoai/base/, then the game should be playable. Of
course that's not very nice, so please be patient until i have packaged
all the data packages too.

I have created a new topic at ufoai.org and i am in contact with one of
the lead developers who seems very interested in getting UFO:AI 2.5 into
Debian main. [1]

In regard to the obvious license issues with CC-BY-SA 2.5 and CC-BY-2.0,
i have found more recent information how they are handled by our
ftp-masters at the moment. [2] [3]

Actually we can upgrade the license to version 3.0, which is DFSG free,
because clause 4b) of CC-BY-SA grants us all the necessary rights to
redistribute derivative works under later versions of the license.

CC-BY licenses are even less restricted hence we can easily upgrade
those "transitively compatible" licenses to DFSG free licenses.

I hope i can finish those other data packages in the next few weeks.

Cheers,

Markus
