FWIW, it occurred to me about a week ago that, although we've been
discussing a question that has implications for all of Debian ports (even if
the current ballot only considers the Linux ports), at no time has the TC
actually asked the Hurd and FreeBSD porters for input - aside from those who
have found their own way to this bug. Considering that some of the
discussions have made assumptions about what the porters will be inclined to
implement given a particular decision by the TC, I think this is an
oversight that we should correct by explicitly reaching out to the porter

Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS
Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
