No. There may be a solution that Thorvald/slicer supposedly came up with. If
it turns out to work, super. It would make the debian-supplied client
compatible with everyone else (probably at the cost of degrading audio quality
for everyone happening to talk to one, but we are talking about less than a
percent of the userbase here, so the chance of that happening is pretty slim).
Until that solution has been presented and validated, nothing can be decided.
IMAO, the sane way forward would be to wait for said solution to emerge. There
are now several people, including the main upstream contributor, who are
curious how it will work.
