So, here is (in the attached screenshot) what I had in mind when asking the above question. What you see in the screenshot is the first "virtual machine operating system selection" dialog that I'm shown when clicking on creating new virtual machine in the Azure portal. You can see there various GNU/Linux distros, including "community" distros, but not Debian. So let me refine my initial question: why Debian is not there? :-) and how do we get Debian into that list?
