good gnome, gtk+ in fact, apps are xim client unless you specify
--disable-xim when you configure to compile it.
mozilla should be because it's written with gtk+.
kde....it maybe horrible. since qt1 supports neither multibyte
nor xim. and xim support is only in kde2's wish list, i have
heard nothing about whether it's implied.
