【支援 DDTP 的实验性质 APT】 DDTP 小组和 Debian-BR 计画[4]发表了第一个[5]支

【自动合并设定档】 Jarno Elonen [7]发表了[8]支援设定档合并的实验性质
dpkg。在已安装的和欲安装的套件中设定档不同时，dpkg
会提供一个合并的选项。在更新的设定档提供较多选定项目时，这个功能能给使用者
一些帮助。

【不再支援 i386？】 Nathanael Nerode 在[9]研究 支援 i386
的相关问题后，发现 Debian 必须要用 GCC 提供的 i486 版的
atomicity.h，才能和其它 distribution 的 C++ 套件维持相容（binary
compatibility）。Dagfinn Ilmari Manns□er [10]写了一个小[11]命令稿
（script），在 P-III Mobile 上比较 i386 及 i486 版的 OpenSSL 的效能。

【Debian 套件标签】 Enrico Zini [12]发表他与 Erich Schubert 合作建立的
Debian 套件标签（Debian Package Tags）系统。这些标签（或称关键字、分类）可以
直接在网路上[13]修改。标签可以视为是 Debian 使用以久的套件分类（package
sections）的进化。Enrico 在稍后发出公告说明他对工具程式做了一些[14]修改。

【支援建议安装和推荐安装的 apt-get？】 Alexander Wirt [15]发表一个 apt-get
的[16]前端程式（wrapper），它可以让您安装一个套件推荐（recommended）和（或

【Debian-Lex 访谈】 一份澳洲报章 The Age 刊载了对 [21]Debian-Lex 发起人
Jeremy Malcolm 的[22]访问。除了参与它的母计画的开发人员的贡献外，有三位合格
的律师参与了这个 Debian-Lex 计画，使得此计画的开发融合了专业法律和资讯科技。

【供发展者借用的 HP i2000 】 James Troup [24]发表了一份感谢声明－由于
[25]Hewlett-Packard 的持续支持，用来编译 Debian ia64 套件的主机（
caballero.debian.org）最近已升级为 [26]rx2600 了。因此，原先的 [27]i2000
主机将移作它用。这台主机将出借给发展 debian-installer、开发工具组
（gcc、binutils、glibc）、核心或负责其它有意义工作的开发人员。有意借用者最
好住在英国，或至少住在欧洲。欲借用者需提出先前的工作成果，或该计划未来深具
发展潜力的证明。

【关于自由软体中 Credits 的争论】 由 Hans Reiser 发起，（并经由 DWN
的[28]报导）在 debian-devel 引起[29]热烈讨论的话题转移到 Newforge
上了。事件的起因是 Debian 开发人员把 ReiserFS 工具中一些包含 sponsorship
credits 的输出拿掉了。之后，Hans Reiser 发表了一篇[30]文章说明他的立场，以
及为什么他认为自由软体中的 credits 应得到更好的保障，且授权证应该要强制这项
保障的执行。不过，大部份的[31]回应都不赞同他的看法。

【Debian Miniconf3 时间敲定】 Debian Miniconf 和 [37]Linux Conference
Australia（LCA）举行的时间连在一起似乎已经快要变成传统了。因此，随著

【供开发人员申请的 Sun Ultra 30】 Nathan Norman [41]说如果 Debian
计画有需要的话，他很乐意捐出他现在用的桌上型电脑 Sun Ultra 30。Martin
Michlmayr [42]说如果有美国的朋友打算利用这台电脑，将 debian-installer
移植到 sparc 平台上的话，Debian 可以代为支付邮寄的费用。不过， Ben Collins
