As Steve has already replied, the release notes will definitely be included again on the final CD images, but for that we first should have "releasable" release notes. IMO the releases notes are currently far from ready. > It is my impression that (based on master's logs [1] and some local > tests that): > > - the latest versions of the release notes are being published at > www.debian.org Correct. > - these versions are not being published using Master's DDP CVS task, > but some other task (which one?), actually the DDP CVS main Makefile > does not include the releas enotes > - no tar.gz files are being provided For details about this I suggest you contact Frank Lichtenheld (djpig) who has set up the build system for the release notes. I do know that the tarball can be created automatically as a by-product of the web build, but it is logical that this is only enabled when the release notes are actually ready for release. > - local build of PDF files does not work (at least for Japapenese) Jens Seidel may be able to help with this. > Last time this was discussed [2], Frans and Steve worked on getting the > Release Notes on the first CDs (english+translations) and managed to do > that for Sarge, what is the current status? This can be left fairly much until the last moment. For Sarge we literally have done some release notes updates in the last week. Translators should be made aware that this is likely to happen again this time and that they will need to respond quickly to update in case of last minute changes. Chees, FJP
