I think someone mentioned this is a fixed issue in the latest
gtranslator version (not yet packaged)

You should update the web pages also.

Regarding the kbabel stability issue I would say that from time to
time it starts to have such problems, while the deletion of the kbabel
profile can bring back stability. I haven't done this automatically
yet, but I have found a way to fix the problem without loosing my
translation database.

Note: Yesterday I have tried to crash kbabel on a aclean profile, but
i couldn't.
