Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot worked: [O*]
Configure network HW: [O]
Config network: [O]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives: [O]
Partition hard drives: [O*]
Create file systems: [O]
Mount partitions: [O]
Install base system: [O]
Install boot loader: [O]
Reboot: [O*]

Comments/Problems:

The system would not boot with 512 MB ram:

RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.
cramfs: wrong magic
Kernel panic: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 00:00

Removing half the memory, the install continued.

After install, the memory was added back and the system works fine.

Partman turned the 9gb scsi disks into 915 MB ones when creating
partitions. fdisk needed to relable the disks after install to get
the space back. (fdisk error message will be reported there)

Rebooting complained about missing /dev/sdb1, I needed to manualy
modprobe ncr53c8xx to get it mounted. (Then used fdisk to fix the
label.) I added ncr53c8xx and aic7xxx to /etc/modules to fix this
problem.

X still has bugs that I thought had been fixed long ago: xterm needs
utf8 locale configured, and the stray semicolons need deleted from the
include lines in the sun keymap.

With Microsoft, failure is not an option. It is a standard feature.
