Re: Software RAID support

Yes, it does, and with fiddling around the old Woody CDs (changed
kernel, added mdadm to the root-image and basedebs) and using the shell
heavily during installation, one could even install Debian on a software
raid1 without having to copy around any data afterwards. I can proove it
if necessary.
I hope this is at least possible manually with the new system, but I
have no time at all to test before mid-june.
With the 2.6 kernel, one can even build partitions onto a raid (raid 1
over two identical ide drives, and several partitions onto that), but I
am just finding out what nodes I have to mknod before I can use that.
I forgot: Partition type is 83, NOT fd! So the raid arrays (even the
root one) are configured from userspace (via kernel boot parameter).
And everything is for i386 branch only, I cannot test anything else but
power3 (older powerpc 64bit processor).
