Hmm, Anton, only Ancient Egyptian falls into the 2nd category..:-)

I guess you wanted to mention ideograms alphabet, so Japanese,
Traditional and Simplified Chinese and Korean....

After reading Tomohiro Kubota contribution document to i18n, which
every i18n contributor should have read once, I feel that Thai
probably falls better in the 2nd category.
