That's not how I interpreted what the debconf note promises, although I
do agree in principle. I've found myself forgetting which directory 
I'm supposed to be looking in (/target/var/log or /var/log).

Does that mean you'd rather see them in /var/log/debian-installer or
/target/var/log/debian-installer? I'd gather the former. I was trying to
keep stuff off the ram disk in keeping with a low ram install or such.

Me too. If we could create a tar and had mailx, I'd say mail might be 
an option.
