I'm not sure if this is a known bug. Can you please describe what
happens in more detail?

This is fixed in CVS. ppcdetect is obsoleted by archdetect.

the newest images are on gluck. If they aren't updated, it's a bug in
the build system.

Yes it should autoboot. Simply press 'c' on boot.
