Debian installer test

Hi,

while trying to set up a random box I obtained at LinuxTag Chemnitz
I tried

    http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/netinst/i386/sarge-i386-businesscard.iso

from 26.2.2003

At first I observed Problems loading tulip.o which is located in
a subdirectory of the network drivers.
Loading it manually via insmod tulip.o *and* answering the
question whether to load the module automatically with *no* (it might
make sense to check whether a module is just loaded instead of blindly
trying to load the module) worked.

Manual selection of mirror (selection 52) failed:
      Unknown localized field:
      Default-nb.ISO-8859-1: nb (Norwegian Bokmal)
      ...
is repeated in an endless loop which can't be interrupted by ^C or any
other method. I just retried the installation from beginning.

I guess that the reason might be caused by the quite poor locale selection
in the very beginning:

        1. nb_NO (default)
        2. nn_NO
        3. se_NO
        4. lv_LV

There should be really a default C available, shouldn't it?

I observed problems while trying to get an address via DHCP.
When I tried first time I randomly choosed some udebs and DHCP
worked like a charm. After the second reboot I also tried
several DHCP related udebs but it did not work at all.

The message is like follows:

installer[4621]: running cmd '/sbin/ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1'
installer[4621]: lo: applet not found
installer[4621]: running cmd '/sbin/modprobe af_packet'

I tried to fix the "Network is down" message by "ifconfih eth0 up" but
now DHCP failed silently. I tried to call pump from a second
console but I got:

pump: error while loading shared libraries: libpopt.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Now I stumied and hope this report was helpful for you

      Andreas.
