modconf works okay with de_DE (iso-8859-1), de_DE@euro (-15) and de_DE.UTF-8
(utf-8).
The weird thing is: other applications work fine with
latin1/15, but after setting LANG to de_DE.UTF-8, the latin non-ASCII
chars are not encoded correctly. They appear as pure not encoded ASCII
sequences, not as single chars in the appropriate charset.
Maybe a bug in locales or in bterm's communication with libc.
