Re: Debian help

Hello Alex,

I don't know solution (more about David Whedom's solution).

I find one workaround:

Other solution is upgrade from Internet with modified "sources.list" of "apt" pointing to one mirror of woody.
F.example add the line: Soon you have the oportunity of install more packages and do anything.

Good Luck .....    ;-)

I am seeing the same problem you do.

Did you find a fix to this debootstrap issue?

The answer of David Whedon (dwhedon@gordian.com):

------------------
These errors have been corrected in the current versions of
boot-floppies/busybox/debootstrap which isn't readily available at the
moment.
------------------

is not clear to me.

  Thanks

alex

Subject: Problem installing Base System !

Hello,

I have the woody CD-Images of Apr 11.

I go to install in my second hard disk and I have the problem:
- OK:    Configure the Keyboard.
- OK:    Create and Initialize partitions.
- OK:    Install Operating System Kernel and Modules.
- FAIL: Install the Base System.
        - I have (in the F1 session) the errors:
+ id: unknow user name: 0
                            + [: 0: unexpected operator
        - I have (in the F3 session) the error:
                + <Date> (none) user.err dbootstrap[136]: command
/usr/sbin/debootstrap
woody /target /instmnt returned 256

At that moment the installation go, again, to "Install the Base System".

Do you know what is the problem ?

Thank you in advanced for your help.
