Perhaps I should rephrase: why does it need to be part of the regular
distribution, in whatever form?

BTW, I made the reject with my ftpmaster hat on. Without that hat,
I am indifferent to this question. However, I see that one of my
responsibilites with that hat is looking after the consistency of the
distribution, in service of the Debian project. If the project decides
- however informally - that the busybox deb is OK, I will accept it in
the archive. However, I cannot see how the -boot people CAN make this
kind of a decision on their own, since this list is about making the
installer and consists of people with interest on the installer, and as
such leaves out many people who might have an opinion on this matter.
So, it's useless trying to convince me here (unless you can convince me
that the issue does not exist).
