IIRC they are not mutualy exclusive, cfengine primarily provides centralized 
maintainance and distribution and Config4GNU primarily flexible edititing and 
maintaining of any type of configuration. Possibly of a central cfengine?

In fact the listarchive turned up somthing maybe sugguesting this.
