 Put ramdisk_size=16384 on the kernel command line, and you don't have to
recompile.  I did this myself to netboot CHAOS (an openMosix compute-node
minimalist thing: see http://itsecurity.mq.edu.au/chaos/, and
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=7089455)
