As they have to carry different versions (~bpo50 vs. ~bpo60) the
obviously have to get built from different sources. An upload to
lenny-backports-sloppy contains a commitment to upload at least the same
version (or a newer one) to squeeze-backports too once it's opened.

This is why I explicitly wrote that a prior discussion with the team is
required prior to the upload to ensure that we are all on the same boat
and have the same understanding on how things are meant to flow.

Not sure where you picked that up, but upgradability is done on binary
packages, not source packages, so the source format doesn't have any
influence at all. It was the dak instance on the old system that had
issues with source v3, but even that went away with the move to the
official server. Please read the announce on the official service again,
it clearly stated that source v3 is no issue anymore for
lenny-backports.

I really hope that people enable lenny-backports only on lenny systems,
not on etch. Or otherwise I unfortunately can't make any sense out of
your statement - can you try to explain the issue you see more deeply?

Yes, there might be specific restrictions in the long run similar to
the source format issue, even for squeeze-backports, but those aren't
forseeable.

 Enjoy!
