 absolutely.  and device tree merely moves the problem from the linux
kernel into... device tree.  development of ARM products, due to the
specialisation of each, is an O(N*M) problem, where N is the number of
processor models available and M is the type of device (laptop, pc,
media centre etc.).

 eoma breaks that down so that it's an O(N+M) problem... not just for
hardware but also for the linux kernel *and* the GNU/Linux OSes on top
of that.
