I think I have the same Sheevaplug as you do (it's this one:

Up to now, I have pretty much left it at its default settings, so this

I would be very interested in your progress with installing Debian onto
it, since I am planning to do likewise (once I have a bit of free time
to work on it). I am particularly curious as to whether an update to
uBoot is actually necessary.
