At some point, the "USB Video Class" got standardised and since then things like
webcams have got easier.  Maybe that also helps here.  Certainly these things
seem to only have a single chip in them, so there is more limited scope for OEMs
to get it wrong.

Actually a quick look along the shelves in Currys at lunchtime suggests that the
more difficult aspect is getting one with a conventional aerial socket, rather
than a microscopic connector for the supplied bent-paperclip antenna.
