I just tried the lenny and daily installer on my mv2120 and it starts
just fine.

It's not supposed to blink quickly after becoming blank. I've updated
the web page to clarify that.

No, you don't have to do anything like that. It should load just
fine... unfortunately, I've no idea why it doesn't work in your case.
You could try removing the disk while you boot but giving that you
reach state 5 (i.e. it's blinking slowly) I don't think that would
help.
