Re: Debian 5.0 (lenny) tar ball for the SheevaPlug - USB install

My first shivaplug arrived this morning. While I was waiting for it to arrive, I already purchased a USB hub, a 16GB USB stick (for main system residency), and a mess of 1GB sticks (for misc temporary stuff during installation), so I plan to spend the weekend getting Debian installed.

My goal for it is to put all my home network's routine services on it -- dhcp, dns, ntp, NIS -- leaving the I/O intensive ones like samba, NFS, mail and web on a more conventional machine with a PCI bus.

Next: (when they release a version that supports both of the on-chip ethernet ports) I plan to replace my home router/firewall/IPv6-tunnel- endpoint with a Debian shivaplug.

Lots of fun work ahead!

For those now on Planet Debian: I released a tar ball containing
Debian lenny for the SheevaPlug along with some installation
instructions. At the moment, you have to install to a USB stick or
drive. I'll look into updating the instructions for SD card and
internal flash soon.
