Re: kernel2.6.22 or later

Thanks all for the replies. All very helpful.
I'm getting very confused, with some of the web pages and info on them.

in my /usr/src on the slug I now have:-
dm9601.c linux-headers-2.6.22-2 linux-headers-2.6.22-2-ixp4xx
linux-kbuild-2.6.22 linux-source-2.6.22
linux-source-2.6.22.tar.bz2
The dm9601.c is the one I found by googling.
Its not the same as :-
/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.22/drivers/net/usb/dm9601.c
I ran diff to check .
I have also found on
http://people.debian.org/~kmuto/d-i/images/daily/ixp4xx/netboot/
 di-nslu2.bin , initrd.gz ,vmlinuz-2.6.22-2-ixp4xx

I've grepped build_ixp4xx_netboot.log For dm9601, but nothing found,
also are the nic modules for the slug in the daily build ?.
I've been trying to make sense of the info here:-
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Debian/BuildImage

or would I be better to follow the guide on upgrading:-
http://www.cyrius.com/debian/nslu2/upgrade.html with minor changes to
use lenny instead of etch., or
use upslug2 to install from the daily build ?.

What I was trying to do was load the dm9601 module so I can get a
second NIC on the slug to use it as a firewall.

Sorry to be a PIA but I'm on a vertical learning curve here.
