There are some instructions for building the kernel for the NSLU2 in
the Debian section of the nslu2-linux site [1]. The instructions were
written for 2.6.18, but do apply with minor (obvious) modifications to
building 2.6.22 which is currently in sid.

If you use Subversion (SVN) to get the source code (see Section
"Source code from the Debian subversion repository" on the wiki page),
you should check out the sid version of the kernel instead of the
trunk version of the kernel. So instead of

svn co svn://svn.debian.org/svn/kernel/dists/trunk/linux-2.6/debian debian

do

svn co svn://svn.debian.org/svn/kernel/dists/sid/linux-2.6/debian debian

If you'd prefer to build the kernel using the instructions for
released Debian .orig, .diff.gz, and .dsc files (see Section "Source
code from a released Debian kernel" on the wiki page), you'll have to
wait until the source version 2.6.22-5 is uploaded to the Debian
servers. To see when 2.6.22-5 has been uploaded, look at

http://packages.qa.debian.org/l/linux-2.6.html

The sid version of the kernel contains 2.6.22.10.
