It isn't technical. We could easily have upoaded most packages from
amd64.debian.net to debian and rebuild the few packages not build by
the now official buildd admin.

But that is for sid. For etch it would have been nice to upload the
core packages from amd64.debian.net and then let britney sort out the
rest. The installability check britney does isn't present in
amd64.debian.net.

Mixing amd64.debian.net and debian.org packages should work. But can
you be sure? I bet there are a few freak bugs that only show up when
you mix the two repositories.

I recommend reinstalling every package when switching to debian.org
just to be on the save side.
