That is an awfully large number of bridges.  Are there any PCIexpress in
the system?  I have read stuff about PCI to PCIexpress bridges not being
configured correctly on the linux kernel mailing list in the last few
days.  I wonder if the ethernet is hiding behind one such bridge.

The other possibility is that if it is really just the nvidia ethernet,
then I have seen before that it does in fact not show up in the pci
list, but the forcedeth driver works for it (but since nothing shows in
the pci listing, it will never be automatically detected and loaded, you
have to modprobe forcedeth manually).

Well there are people with 2.6.11 install cds from february that have
posted the url for those on the amd64 debian list so you could go grab
one of those and try if that works, and manually load the forcedeth
driver from console 2 during the install and see if that all works out.
You can then grab 2.6.11 from testing or unstable after installing.
