So it remains an open question: how to install debian-amd64 on a machine with BCM5700 NICs?
Fastest solution would be build your own debain from scratch CD with the broadcom.com driver compiled for it and do follow the dfs way.
Build a udeb with the broadcom.com driver and roll your own installertry to mount a usbstick with the broadcom.com driver compiled for the d-i kernel and load the module from there (haven't tried that)
lspci -v recognizes these specific cards as "Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 11)"
It's still kinda strange as exatly that chip worked with a d-i installer cd a couple of month ago.Too bad I can't check what d-i build I used back then and I have no access to the box for at least a couple of month.
